Cernos capsules contain active ingredient Testosterone Undecanoate which belongs to class of medications called androgens. It should be used only if low level of testosterone has been confirmed by corresponding blood tests and symptoms.
Take the medication exactly as it was prescribed by your doctor. Reaction of a particular organism to it can be individual and depends on body weight, medical conditions and other medications you take. As a rule for the first two or three weeks of treatment daily dose varies from 120 to 160 mg. The daily dose should be divided in two intakes. Take capsules with a meal and swallow them, don’t chew them.
Do not give this medication to other people even if they have similar symptoms. Do not dispose the drug in a wastewater or in household garbage. Consult your physician how to destroy the medication which expired or not needed the safest way. Inform your doctor if you have problems with blood sugar levels, heart diseases, kidney or liver diseases, sleep disorders as testosterone may cause high blood pressure and interruption of breathing during sleep especially in patients with chronic lung diseases or ones with overweight.
Do not take this drug if you are allergic to it or any of its components. Female and children should not take it. In case you have prostate or breast cancer this medication is contraindicated to you.
Possible side effects
You should contact your doctor if you experience one or some of these symptoms: abdominal pain, acne, aggressive behavior, changes in sexual desire or drive, dizziness, enlarged prostate, hair loss, thinning hair, or baldness, headache, mood changes, skin rash or itching, sleep disturbances caused by breathing problems (sleep apnea), sore throat and/or fever, unpleasant breath odor, weight gain. In case you have one of the following side effects you should contact your doctor as soon as possible: black, tarry, or light-colored stools, or dark urine, breast soreness or enlargement, depression, flushing or redness of skin or any changes in skin color, high blood pressure, problems with urination (change in frequency or color, dribbling, pain or straining when urinating, weak urine stream, small urine amounts), prolonged (more than 4 hours) or painful erections, or erections that happen too often, purple or red-colored spots on the body or inside the mouth or nose, swelling of ankles and legs (for people with heart, liver, or kidney problems), symptoms of liver problems, such as: abdominal pain, dark urine, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, pale stools, yellow eyes or skin.
Cautiousness is needed when Testosterone is prescribed with withwarfarin (Coumadin) because testosterone can reduce breakdown of warfarin, causing increased warfarin levels in the blood and high risk of bleeding. Testosterone also is able to decrease blood glucose levels, therefore caution is needed when it is prescribed for diabetic patients. Inform your doctor if you take propranolol, cyclosporine, corticosteroids, adrenocorticoides.
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
If you consider that you took too much of this medication contact your doctor immediately.
Store your medicines at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
